River Nith 2020 Fishing Season Opening Event
The Nith District Salmon Fishery Board, in association with Buccleuch Estates Ltd, are hosting an opening event for the 2020 salmon fishing season on the Upper Beat of the River Nith at Drumlanrig, Thornhill on Tuesday 25th of February. This event is intended to bring the river community together to celebrate the commencement of the coming season. We are acutely aware of the declining population numbers of salmon currently throughout the North Atlantic region but consider it important to maintain the interest in our river, our stocks of fish and the sport of fishing. The anglers of the River Nith have embraced the concept of conservation and are still able to enjoy the pleasures of fishing whilst not exploiting the resource unsustainably. We welcome all who fish the Nith including our younger anglers who are the future of angling on our river.
Buccleuch Estates Ltd have kindly offered that all who attend the opening event may fish the Drumlanrig Water, free of charge, for the Opening Day, Tuesday 25th February, following the Opening Ceremony.
Please note that whilst all are welcome, it is ESSENTIAL that you confirm your intention to attend (RSVP). This will enable us to cater for appropriate number of people and enable us to comply with law in relation to permission to fish.
