River Nith Salmon Fishing Opening Ceremony 2024
The Nith District Salmon Fishery Board would like to invite you to attend an opening event for the 2024 salmon fishing season at Boatford Beat near Thornhill on Monday 26th of February.
As always, this event is intended to bring the river community together to celebrate the commencement of the coming season. All who are involved with Scottish fisheries are aware of the pressures that our salmon stocks currently face. Fishers are doing their best for conservation of stocks by returning all salmon captured. Nith District Salmon Fishery Board and Nith Catchment Fishery Trust are conducting research and initiatives to ensure that we fully understand any issues that salmon face within the freshwater environment.
The owners of the Boatford Beat have kindly offered that all who attend the opening event may fish their beat, free of charge, for the Opening Day, Monday 26th February, following the Opening Ceremony.
Please note that whilst all are welcome, it is essential that you confirm your intention to attend (RSVP). This will enable us to cater for the appropriate number of people and enable us to comply with law in relation to permission to fish.
