2019 River Nith Sea Trout Experience
The 2019 River Nith Sea Trout Experience has now closed and we are collating the data from the results gained from the participants. Thankfully the weather was kind to us this year with conditions conducive to sea trout fishing. Sea trout were captured on every night that the event was run. Over the four Friday nights that fishing took place, by far the best night was June 21st with a total of 12 sea trout being caught and others being hooked and lost. It is encouraging to see that when angling effort is applied to our river, the results indicate that fish are present. This corroborates the observations of some who spend time working on the river who are reporting seeing fish.
This year’s event saw the return of anglers who have participated previously along with others who have heard about the River Nith Sea Trout Experience and came along to give it a try. Sea trout were captured from the lower river right through to Drumlanrig but the most productive beat for our event this year was Dalswinton with 5 sea trout caught. Over the entire event 21 sea trout, 4 herling, 12 brown trout, 1 salmon and 4 grayling were recorded.
Thank you to all that participated in this years Sea Trout Experience!
